The Museum celebrated 75 years of the Nation's Independence on August 15, 2023, by hosting the National Flag and paying homage to our brave freedom fighters. presents.Raja Rammohun Roy Institute of Performing and Visual Arts presented a colourful programme put together by their students which was followed by a tree plantation ceremony.


The Museum organized a special cultural function and the artists from Jhankar Kalangan Art & Cultural Society presented in attractive package of music, recitation collage,dance - Drama capsule,entitled “Yugasroshta Raja Rammohun". The program was titled "Bismaye Tai Jage." and was well attended.


The Museum was proud to host a Youth Conference titled “Indian Renaissance and Vivekananda", which was atteneded by students of different colleges. The eminent speakers enlightened the audience on the relevance of Swami Vivekananda. Dr. Somenath Bhattacharya from Jadavpur University, spoke about the world and ethos of the great thinker and Dr.Subrata Dhar analysed the importance of the social and educational principles of Vivekananda.


Raja's 190th death annoversary was commemorated in a befitting manner in the main hall of the Museum. The audience was deeply appreciative of the illuminating lecture given by Prof. Tapati Mukherjee, Vice Precident, Asiatic Society,Kolkata entitled "Phirey dhekha - Aitihyer Punarnabyan”, where attempted an in-depth analysis of the legacy of the revolutionary thinker.


The museum arranged a special cultural programme in the evening October 2, 2023 where the Father of the Nation was remembered through the perfomance of some spiritual songs. songs. A beautiful presentation of dance, music and recitation "Kanya Rupeno Sansthita” was performed by the troupe,Jhankar Kalangan Art and Cultural Society, celebrating the power of the woman in society.


Governor General of British ruled India, Lord William Bentinck, passed a law banning the practice of “Suttee" on December 4, 1829. This was the first major social reforms legislation enacted by the British in India and the contribution of towards the betterment of women's condition in India. To honour this historic day, we organised an event at the Museum. Dr. Tapati Burman, Associate Prosessor, Rammohan College, talked about the banning of Sutte as the first ray of light of the renaissance.


The museum arranged a two day workshop on “Collage Art & Paper Mask Making” for school students. Different schools of kolkata like Aryakanya Mahavidyalaya,Brahmo Balika Shikshalaya, Brahmo Boys, Cossimbazar Polytechnic Institute, Victoria Institution etc participated in the workshop. A participation certificate was presented to all participants. The programme is supported by The Ministry of Culture, GOI.


Raja Rammohun Roy Memorial Museum arranged for one day seminar on January 10th 2024 with the theme “Kotha o Kahini te Rammohun theke Vivekananda” Dr. Amita Dhar, Professor of A.P.C. collage Dept. of Philosophy, shared different stories and eventes of Rammuhun and Vivekananda’s life with the purticipants,to express the ideology of both reformar among the young generation.


Raja Rammohun Roy Memorial Museum organized one day seminar on January 12, 2024 on the theme “Smriti Kothay Rammohun” Dr. Soumita Mitra, Assistant professor of Rabindra Bharati University and Dr.Doyel De, Associate Professor of Rammohun Collage, Radhanagar, Hooghly were the main speakers of the seminar, and they enlightened the audience on the verious incidents in Rammohun’s Life.


Raja Rammohun Roy Memorial Museum arranged a Recitation workshop on January 28 2024. The participants were trained on “The right way to pronounce the words, diction and their usage at right places.” and “Choosing the right poem in a ceremony and the thematic structure of the recitation.” The participants were alloted completion certificatess.

The much needed event held on the grounds of the Museum on February 18, 2024. It was part of an ambition project of the Museum to develop itself into a major repository of materials and archive on Rammohun Roy. The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Kalyan Kumar Chakraborty, who was also the seminar coordinator and he spoke from his experience as Ex DG National Museum, Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi. This was followed by the morning Session, moderated by Mr. Santanu Chakraborty, Art Historian, Scientist and expert on photography, Mr Dipak Kumar Barapanda, Director, Ashutosh Museum, Calcutta University, spoke from an archaeological and museological perspective while Mr. Manoj Sarkar, Ex-Secretary, Lalit Kala Akademi and Professor of Indian Art, discussed the role of display and design in building a narrative of the life and work of Rammohun. Mr. Nataraj Dasgupta, Ex. Director, NCSM,Kolkata, gave a digital presentation and highlighted the need to use technology to showcase the mindscape of the thinker. Mr. Satyakam Sen,from Indian Museum Kolkata, talked about the possibility of building the Museum into one without walls. The evening Session, was moderated by Mr. Nataraj Dasgupta, with Dr. Tapati Guha Thakurata, Director and Professor in History, CSSC, along with her research Scholar, Namrata Ghosh, gave on excellent account of the house museums in Kolkata.

Raja Rammohun Roy Memorial Museum arranged for one day seminar on February 23 2024. The topic was “Raja Rammohun Roy - The Maker of Modern India”.The Speakers was Dr. Sandipan Sen, Associate Professor Department of English, Ananda Mohan Collage & Dr. Newton Biswas, Assistant Professor Department of Education, Gokhale Memorial Girls’ College. The delivered lecture was very educative and intersting.


Raja Rammohun Roy Memorial Museum conducted a two-day workshop on "Tholpavakoothu", shadow puppetry of Kerala, on February 27 and 28, 2024.The workshop was well attended and participants found it exciting. The programme concluded with a puppetry show which everyone enjoyed. This effort at preserving a folk art of our country received appreciation from cultural minded people.


Raja Rammohun Roy Memorial Museum arranged a workshop on March 15th 2024. The workshop had the theme “Theatre in Education”. From the workshop the participants gained some knowleddge about recitation, acting, dialogue delivery etc. The programme is supported by The Ministry of culture, Govt. Of India.


Raja Rammohun Roy Memorial Museum once again arranged an one day seminar on “Raja Rammohun Roy in his times and in ours”, on 16th March 2024. Dr. Partha Pratin Basu,Dept. of International Relations, Jadavpur University, gave the welcome address and introduced the seminar theme. The keynote, was given by Dr. Amiya P.Sen, Honorary Fellow, Oxford University, stressed on the revolutionary ideas of Rammohun and how they can guide us. He moderated the first session where Dr. M.Islam, St.Paul’s College and Dr. Sakti Sadhan Mukhopadhyay, Kidderpore Collage talked about syncrectic thought of Rammohun and the renaissance. In the second session Dr.Tapan Cattopadhyay Dept. of Political Seience (Retd.) of Calcutta University, moderated this session. Dr. Anjan Bera, Dept. of Journalism, discussed various ideas of Rammohun along with Dr.Malayandu.Dinda, RKMBC of education, Rahara.

Raja Rammohun Roy Memorial Museum invited some students from verious school of Kolkata to attented the one day workshop on 30th March 2024 at the Museum premisses. The theme of the workshop “ Wordtoon ” excited the participants. The seminar was conducted by eminent artist Sri Subhendu Sarkar and workshop Curator - .Mrs. Reshmi Chatterjee. The programme is supported by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
